Inside a Professional Newborn Photography Studio

Inside a Professional Newborn Photography Studio
A lot of newborn photography happens in spaces that were not specifically tailored for newborns. My studio is. Here is what that means in practice.
Where the Studio Is Located
My studio is located at 2815 Baker Ave Suite 205, Everett WA 98201, just minutes off I-5. That location makes it an easy drive for families coming from Seattle, Bothell, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Marysville, and throughout Snohomish County. Parking is available directly in front of the main entrance and across the street in the gravel lot. The studio is on the second floor of the building.
For families searching for a dedicated newborn photography studio in Snohomish County, the location was chosen to be central and accessible for the communities I serve most. Many of my clients come from across the greater Seattle metro area specifically because a private, fully prepared studio environment produces more consistent and controlled results than an in-home session.
What a Dedicated Newborn Studio Looks Like
The studio spans 2,400 square feet and I have multiple styled sets designed specifically for newborn and family portrait work. My materials are set up, stocked, and ready before every single session. The sets are styled, and the studio is already warm.
The studio temperature is raised significantly above a normal room temperature before every session. Newborns cannot regulate their own body temperature as well as grown-ups, and a warm environment is one of the most important factors in helping a baby settle into a deep, comfortable sleep. A baby who is cold or even slightly cool will not relax, and will not give you the peaceful images you came for. Maintaining the right temperature is one of the first things a professional newborn photography studio in Everett should have handled before you walk in the door.
Props, Wraps, and Sets Provided for Every Session
Every prop, wrap, blanket, bowl, basket, and posing setup used during a newborn session is provided by the studio. That is my job, and everything in the studio has been selected with a specific purpose.
The wraps and blankets are soft, sized specifically for newborns, and chosen to photograph well under studio lighting across a range of skin tones and set colors. The props, including posing bowls, baskets, and specialty setups, are selected because they safely support a newborn's body and create the compositions that produce timeless images. After 25 years of newborn photography, I have a clear sense of what holds up in a finished gallery and what dates quickly. Nothing in my studio is there just because it looks good on a shelf.
Samples of all wall art options, including framed prints, canvas, metal prints, and albums, are also on display in the studio so you can see and touch the finished products before you order. If you are curious about what newborn photography products look like in person, you are welcome to visit the studio before your session to look through the options.
How the Studio Is Set Up to Support Your Baby
A professional newborn photography studio is not just a room with pretty backdrops. Every element of my studio environment is chosen around one priority: your baby's comfort and safety throughout the session.
The session itself is baby-led, which means it moves at your baby's pace and not a fixed schedule. If your baby needs to eat, we stop. If your baby needs to be held and soothed before settling into a pose, we take that time. Feeding breaks, gentle rocking, careful re-wrapping between poses, and extended settling time are all standard parts of every session.Â
How I Work With You From Start to Finish
I hear most from families after their session is that they did not realize how guided the experience would be. Many parents arrive nervous, unsure what to do or where to stand, and leave saying it was easier than they expected.
Before your session, you will receive a prep guide covering what to wear, how to prepare your baby, and what to expect on the day. If you have questions about the studio, the props, or the process before you book, I am happy to schedule a visit so you can see the space in person and talk through everything. I want you to understand the process at every step, and I am available to answer questions along the way.
After your session, you will sit down with me for a same-day image viewing appointment before you leave the studio. You will see your fully edited previews, choose your favorites, and place your order in one visit. No waiting weeks for a gallery link, no back-and-forth emails about products. Everything is handled in one place, on one day.
