Family portraits can be done in a lot of different styles. I have photographed for the Nguyen family since their wedding in 2011, but the one thing we hadn’t done was an in home lifestyle session. Since their youngest had just turned nine months we focused on Brooklyn. We started with a round of peek-a-boo, which gave us some adorable, dimple-filled results. I love how this girl’s face is always filled with joy and wonder. Her sweet smile can light up a room!
Brooklyn is a great older sister. She loves to help and more importantly, she’s crazy about Brooklyn. We did a little snuggling in her room and we got some cute kisses and smiles. Of course we had to do a few family portraits with everyone in their jammies. Here too Brooklyn was covered in kisses. But my favorite part of the shoot was when we decided to have some good clean fun in the tub with some bubble bath!
Bubbles can get everywhere, so I appreciated the Nguyen’s being good sports while we let the girls play in a mountain of suds. Their bathtub has a skylight right above which gave us beautiful light.
Too often as parents we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. After this session and seeing how much fun these sweet girls were having in the tub I decided to let my own daughter do the same. Lauren never likes to smile for the camera but with bubbles, she was all smiles. The photo at the top of this post is my own daughter playing in the bath. To date it’s my favorite photo of her. We don’t have a gorgeous skylight so I used flash to create a fake window light coming in from the left.
Thank you Nguyen family for a fun session and the inspiration!
