Franklin Falls is a short hike off of I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass. It was also the location for my shoot with Kristina and Joven. This great couple told me they had never hiked in Washington! Yes, they are natives, and yes they do love hiking, but it’s always something they tend to do on vacation, not at home. So I was glad that we had the opportunity to capture their love in the natural beauty of the Mt. Baker National Forest.
In fact, Joven proposed to Kristina on a hiking trip in Hawaii. Their engagement story is actually quite comical. The couple was hiking up to a waterfall but before they could reach their destination they stopped by the stream for a break and Joven nearly lost the ring! In my mind I imagined him fumbling around in the stream looking for the ring while trying to distract Kristina so as not to ruin the surprise. I wanted their engagement photos to have some of the same elements of their proposal, so I made them get in the freezing cold water (sorry guys!) for a few shots. It was also fun to include the falls since they never ended up making it to the waterfall in Hawaii, Joven was just couldn’t wait another minute to propose! This time we did get to the falls through and we got some really fun pictures of them together that show how much they love one another.
What I enjoyed most about our session was getting a chance to chat with them as we hiked back from the falls. These two are a great match. They both are easy going, thoughtful, and relaxed. Their wedding next April 1st (not a joke btw) will surely be a wonderful event filled with laughter, and tears of joy.
