The WAC or Washington Athletics Club is a phenomenal place for a wedding for several reasons. One, lovely hotel rooms to use for getting ready and guests to stay at. Two, their ballroom has amazing crystal chandeliers that you and your guests won’t be able to stop staring at. Three, they are perfectly located in the heart of downtown so getting photos in and around the city is convenient. Four, they can do ceremony and reception with ease, and fifth, their food and staff are the best to be found!
I’m not sure if Mckynzi and Gary chose the WAC for this reason, but if I were getting married any of those would make me seriously consider it as a possibility. Here’s some photos from their October wedding that hopefully prove my points. Mckynzi and her family are detailed oriented people. I love that! It made my heart warm when she asked me to photograph her grandmothers handkerchief and family heirloom prayer book. Gary and his groomsmen were a blast to photograph as well. These fun loving guys made quick work of getting dressed but I was able to capture a few gems I really love. The bride and groom had both mentioned how much they like the Library at the hotel, so I made sure we used it for portraits and for this shot of Mckynzi’s dress.
Just up the street from the Washington Athletics Club is the Plymouth Congregational Church, which was a lovely place for the couple to share their vows. I loved watching Gary smile at Mckynzi through the entire service! Obviously these two are smitten with each other! After the ceremony we went back to the Washington Athletic Club for the reception and some photos of the couple. I loved the individual portraits I got of them, Gary looking handsome in the library, and Mckynzi smoldering on the red carpeted stairs.
Their reception included some beautiful moments as well. After their grand entrance Mckynzi took up the microphone and sang a lovely song to her parents and Gary’s parents as a thank you for all they had done. Tears flowed freely and I was sincerely impressed by her vocals! This girl can sing! As the night drew to a close and the toasts had been shared we snuck away for a romantic rain portrait in front of the building.
Thank you both for making this day one I will never forget! I wish you both all the love and blessing marriage provides.
