At the beginning of the month I photographed a lovely vow renewal ceremony and family portrait collection for some long time clients. Neil and Cheryl have had forty years together and were blissfully happy to once again promise to love, honor, and cherish each other. Surrounded by music of worship, many friends, and a family that is perpetually growing, this couple spoke of their love for one another, their gratitude to God, and the lives that had touched them along the way. Many members of the Enix family are talented musicians. Cheryl specifically mentioned how much she loved music and it was obvious that that love had been passed to her children.
Before the ceremony we took some time to do family portraits. Each family (the Enix’s have 6 kids) had their own mini-session under the beautiful blossoms of an established dogwood tree. We also took the time to photograph all 9 of their grand-kids. I have to say, I have never met a better behaved bunch. Finally we had a few minutes for photos of Cheryl, her father, brother, and three sisters.
I am sure that Cheryl and Neil’s home is going to be decorated with this photo collection and bring back great memories for years to come.
For me the best part of the event was seeing this lovely family all committed to one another. Let’s be honest. Family relationships are hard at times, but it’s always so refreshing to see a positive example. Cheryl and Neil’s forty years together I am sure had it’s bumps, all marriages do, but they chose each other and taught their children to do the same with their own spouses. That kind of love can’t be taught in words, it has to come in the school of example. I want to add my congratulations to the Enix’s and a wish for many more years filled with laughter, happy tears, family, and music.
