A Thornewood Castle wedding means three things: historic architecture, luxurious gardens, and endless photo opportunities. Julie and Jeff love everything about this historic venue. The night before their wedding they chose to stay at this supposedly haunted bed and breakfast. Luckily for them, there wasn’t a ghost in site.  Jeff was next door to Julie’s room in another suite enjoying the best air conditioner (man it was hot!).

Thoughtful Details

Julie and Jeff put together lots of great little personal details for their wedding. Jeff had custom guitar cufflinks to match his obsession with the instrument. Julie had floral arrangements made by her mother-in-law and custom lanterns for her bridesmaids. I really loved the bowties the groomsmen wore. It was great to see some Scottish inspired fabric for this very UK style venue! The Lego cake topper, custom dessert bar, and paper flowers were some additional personalized elements. When it came time for Jeff and Julie to exchange gifts, both had really heartfelt surprises in store for one another. Jeff made Julie a photo album with images from all of their travels together. Julie gave Jeff a beautiful pocket knife, and guitar socks to match his cufflinks.

Garden Wedding

The best part of a Thornewood Castle wedding is getting married in their amazing gardens. Surrounded by roses and hydrangeas in bloom, Julie and Jeff shared vows to each other. In their ceremony, they opened an envelope where they had randomly selected a destination to travel to. They plan to make this trip on their first anniversary. They will open another envelope on every subsequent anniversary. This way they will always have an adventure on the horizon.

After the ceremony, we went inside the castle for a lovely dinner, toasting and dancing. Jeff’s brother played the piano just before our favorite newlyweds enjoyed a sparkler send off.
