This Seattle engagement session for Katie and Fred started near Pioneer Square and we made our way to Queen Anne. Along the way we visited the Olympic Sculpture Garden and enjoyed the lovely views of the Puget Sound. Katie and Fred both mentioned not feeling comfortable in front of the camera, which is something I hear a lot. So I used some of the techniques I know work best to help couples be themselves in front of the camera. To start, I don’t take a lot of photos with the couple looking into the camera, this feels really posed and outdated. Instead I give suggestions to the couple to help them connect. From the prompts comes natural laughter, and often a kiss or two. These little hints on what to do help people concentrate on each other and not the camera, making the whole experience more relaxing.

Luckily for us, Seattle is lovely city with lots of different elements within a short travel distance. The Olympic Sculpture Garden alone has access to the Puget Sound, tall grass fields, deciduous trees, flowering plants,  and modern art. We visited all of these while there and then headed to the most iconic view of the city found at Kerry Park on Queen Anne. Once we arrived Katie and Fred were able to get some photos with their beloved dachshund dogs as well as the picturesque skyline.

I am looking forward to their wedding in 2017 at Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore WA. Inglewood is an amazing wedding venue and a favorite location for Fred since he loves golf. It will be wonderful to share in the union of these two loving and friendly people.
