In the 9th grade I met Anna and my life changed forever. Anna was the first real hardcore Star Wars fan I knew that wasn’t one of my cousins. At the time we met I had never seen the original trilogy and wasn’t quite sure what to think of this funny girl who wished she could live in a galaxy far far away. Over the years our friendship has been an important part of my life. She has always been a genuine friend and confidant. So when her daughter Abigail was born last week I knew I was going to have fun with this one.
We started out with your basic adorable baby photos because, well, I can. Then we moved on to some photos with mom and dad that showed off Anna’s awesome tattoo and Joe’s perfectly ironic t-shirt. Anna made Abigail an adorable R2D2 onsie (I just about died when I saw it)! Then we finished up with a few more traditional baby photos before I tried my hand at some Jedi master level Photoshop and created the photo at the top of the page.
The nest and tree were photographed last week at Washington Park Arboretum while I was waiting for some clients to show up. With a little skill I was able to photograph this sweet baby girl so blending the photos together was a snap. While this image doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the images it’s been a passion of mine to create images like this one for a while. I love putting together fine art images for a few reasons. First, it’s a challenge, and I love a good challenge. Two, it requires a lot of pre-planning and conceptual thinking. Then there’s the math. I LOVE geeking out about focal distance, aperture, etc and composite images that are built from multiple pieces require lots of math. So I guess this session really is the blending of two friends obsessions into a beautiful collection of baby photos that I hope will be treasured keepsakes.
Most importantly I wanted to say congratulations to my dear friend, her husband Joe, and their little padawan.
