When I get to photograph a newborn, that’s a gift. When I get to photograph a baby every few months during his first year, that’s a dream job! The Baby Bundle Plan is my favorite thing I do behind the camera. It’s such a privilege to see a new little life grow and develop, all the while knowing that my artwork is going to help capture a person’s most formative year. While my clients won’t remember me taking their portrait when they are adults, I hope they will love the results and feel the love of their parents even more when they recognize their part in commissioning the art in the first place.
The Baby Bundle Plan is designed around this very concept. I want to create a collection of images that show a child’s growth, and developing personality in a artistic way. Garrett’s portraits have always had one prop included; a row boat. As a newborn we photographed this little guy sleeping/fishing. At four months when sitting up was getting easier we used the boat again to show off his developmental milestone. By eight months when he was pulling himself up, sitting without aid, and being all around adorable, we used the boat again. It was easy to see how much he had grown. At eight months his toes wouldn’t fit in! At one year we visited the beach and he stood next to the boat to show just how tall he’s gotten. Most of these images were made using some photoshop techniques I like that help keep kids out of a dangerous situations.
Of course we did other things too, but these portraits have become part of a series that my client’s have hanging in their home. I’m very proud to know that so many of my clients come back to me again and again from the time they get married until their kids are grown. (yep I have clients who have kids in high school now- man I’m getting old!) Here’s a few other cute photos from the sessions part of the Baby Bundle Plan. Hope you enjoy!
