A great venue option that can be easily overlooked is the backyard wedding. When planning an event at home (or often some else’s home with a great garden) color is one of the most important choices. Using bright, bold colors sets the mood for a fun and passionate backyard wedding. I’ve gathered up some of my favorite details that use lots of color to share with you how a saturated color palette can be the perfect wedding inspiration.bold color wedding inspiration ijphoto

Galadriel and Sam wanted a wedding with the flair of a fiesta. To accomplish this their wedding included lots of brightly colored flowers, hanging lanterns. and rich custom blended drinks with bold fruit flavors. Each item on their dinner buffet menu had it’s own framed label, coordinating floral bouquet, and descriptive pun. Yellow, fuchsia, and cyan lanterns decorated the tent where the reception was held and matching paper lanterns hung in the trees and over the bar. Even the couples ring bearer (their pet Chihuahua) had a decorative floral harness! All of this worked very well against the lovely green landscape of Dunn Gardens.  Using bright, bold colors for a backyard style wedding helps to elevate what could be just a gathering of friends and family into a noteworthy event no one will forget.

They chose to use orange and slate gray as their color palette. This stroke of genius allowed them to play with color, without giving up their desire for an elegant affair. The couple wanted to blend casual and stylish on their wedding day, and by selecting a bold color and a neutral, they did just that! I also loved the fleece blankets provide to keep guest warm after the sun went down and the towering menu board that announced the evenings events and detailed the delicious dinner.

Backyard weddings are a great way to blend the things that both the bride and groom love. For Galadiel and Sam it was blending Sam’s love of the great outdoors with her cultural roots. For Casey and Kara it was expressing their bold passion for one another and their lasting dedication to the timeless values of family. By choosing colors that symbolized their values they were able to design individual events that were personalized as well as beautiful.
