I’m going to put an idea out there that is new and exciting: Wedding Doughnuts.
In the past few years the wedding industry has seen the traditional wedding cake joined by a collection of other sweets and desserts to delight guests. Dessert tables are now very much in style and a great way to offer something besides the obvious to guests. Some popular desserts are collections of candies, pies, flavored popcorn(s), cookies, and doughnuts. Yep, you head the last one right. But I’m not talking Krispy Cremes, I’m talking artisan doughnuts in a rainbow of flavors and allergen free options. That’s where Ariel Bangs and Healthy Creations come in. Ariel is (and I’m not exaggerating) a beam of light! Meeting her is like seeing what pure joy looks like. Her hunger for life and love of people are so refreshing that you can’t help buy love her instantly. THEN, you try her wedding doughnuts and you simply are BLOWN AWAY.
Like many of you I had some feelings of trepidation about vegan baked goods, but this is definitely a risk worth taking. Not only were the flavors rich, but the presentation was beautiful. ( I have half a mind to call them Rustic Personal Cakes instead of doughnuts just to remove the association with all thinks Dunkin.) And I wasn’t the only one blown away. Here’s what a real customer had to say;
“Ariel’s creations defied my expectations of what gluten-free and vegan could be! For years, I’d rejected anything labeled “vegan”. My necessary gluten-free made it difficult enough to find yummy baked goods. When you add in vegan, I’d found, you ended up with dry and grainy and weird aftertastes. So I was thrilled to see my local coffee shop was carrying something gluten-free – Ariel’s Mayan Donuts – but didn’t expect much when I noted it was also vegan. Just one bite and all my melted away – and the donut did too: melted in my mouth, chocolaty, complex, rich, moist and just a bit spicy. I was amazed!
Since that day, Ariel has impressed me with everything from black bean samosas to delectable blondies to carrot cake to cheesy biscuits. I eat everything Ariel makes with confidence, knowing it will not only be enjoyable but will be phenomenal. Aside from the amazing texture and perfect moistness, Ariel has a way with spices and flavors that I’ve never encountered anywhere else. Everything is just the tiniest bit surprising, even yummier than you expected! Every Single Time. ” – Marilee Jolin
And working with Ariel couldn’t be sweeter. (See what I did there? It’s a food pun.) Every bride and groom’s experience starts with a consultation to assess needs. This is when you talk about allergies, special dietary requirements, and flavors. Next you get to enjoy a personal tasting of your selection with wine and scotch. Once you have exactly the right desserts chosen you get the share your new favorite treat with friends and family during your wedding. Note: Ariel also does catering and other baked goods; so if you have a complicated relationship with food you can rely on her to take the stress out of dining on your wedding day.
If you are still wondering, “why would I have doughnuts at my wedding?” Ariel makes a few good points,;
” Hand held desserts and appetizers are an important part of weddings with the importance of keeping ones clothes pristine, from the brides dress, grooms tuxedo, to flower girl, and ring bearer’s outfits. Our donuts provide the deliciousness of a piece of cake with a wide variety of flavors in a hand held flavorgasmic healthy food. “
Healthy Creations offers savory and sweet donut balls and donuts. Some of the seasonal flavors I sampled for this post included:
- Cocoa lavender
- Cocoa chili (this was mind blowing!)
- Cacao espresso
- Vanilla crunch with nut (one of my favs)
- Raspberry white cocoa
- Lemongrass coconut
- Peach Mango
- Blueberry lemon
Because Ariel’s wedding doughnuts change seasonally, it’s a great idea to contact her for a tasting so you can get a true sense of the flavors and variety she has to offer. Here’s how you can get in touch or learn more:
