Modern Glamour Sessions Now Booking!

Modern Glamour Sessions Now Booking!

When I was in the 8th grade every one of my friends went and did “Glamour Shots”. All of them had a soft focus filter, bad hot pink backgrounds and either a jean jacket or a feather boa (if you were trying to be extra classy). The hair was teased and the make up totally inappropriate for teen girls. Yet we all did it. Twenty years later I think I’ve figured out why. Every woman wants to feel gorgeous.

I love the idea (not the application) of this kind of photo session. Nothing is more rewarding for a photographer than seeing a person come alive in front of your camera. Modern Glam sessions are a great way to do just that. Here’s an example.

Meet Larissa. (And her husband and three cute kids as seen above.) Like most modern women she wears a variety of hats; mother, wife, and CEO of  Mode: a Fashion Magazine. She is smart, talented, generous, and beautiful. My goal with Larissa’s session was to simply make her look and feel the way everyone around her sees her. So often we are bogged down by the daily routine of life we can loose sight of the fact that others can’t help but be dazzled by how truly remarkable we are.

We actually did two completely different looks during Larissa’s session. This second one was inspired by the resemblance between this fiery redhead and Christina Hendricks in Mad Men.

Modern Glam sessions include professional hair and makeup provided by my team of experts then photographed in my studio. As with all of my clients, a pre-shoot consultation is scheduled before your session. Together we choose wardrobe and inspiration looks to guide your session and create real glamour that won’t go out of style. For more information call 425.232.5263 or email irene@ijphoto.net. Think for just a moment about the last time you had a life altering experience. Take your time……….Got it? Good. We all come to these life events from different directions. Sometimes we are blindsided, other times we are searching out new ideas, but no matter the method of transportation, we all eventually reach a place inContinue Reading

2013 Is Going to Be BIG!

2013 Is Going to Be BIG!

For a “creative type” I’m pretty left brained. I love setting goals, updating my calendar, making lists, and reorganizing.   For this reason January is one of my favorite months. (That and it’s my birthday month too!) The new year is a great time to look back over the previous year, and then look forward andContinue Reading

Capturing Christmas Morning

Capturing Christmas Morning

In the past I have been guilty of setting up my entire studio lighting kit in my living room with the intent of capturing every moment of Christmas morning. It’s been comforting to know I can capture the magic as it happens with quality exposures and perfectly executed lighting. From the street my neighbors canContinue Reading

Florescent Lighting: A Cheap and Easy Way to Make Beautiful Portraits

Florescent Lighting: A Cheap and Easy Way to Make Beautiful Portraits

I have really been enjoying teaching my most recent portrait photography class. It’s so fun to hang out with other people who love portraiture as much as I do! Last night we photographed using old fashion florescent tubes as the main lighting source. This is a great way to repurpose something you probably already have in your garage. Best of all,Continue Reading
